36 Lessons We've Learned in 36 Years

We are in our 36th year of business, and we thought, what better way to celebrate this accomplishment, than to share some of the most vital lessons we've learned.



  1. Change is constant. You can fight it or embrace it and seek the growth and opportunities that come from it.

  2. There are no neutral interactions; they either build up or tear down the culture or what you create.

  3. Pick up the phone; email only goes so far.

  4. Being a real person with real emotions is what inspires people and challenges minds and hearts.

  5. You have to do the work first, embody the expectations, and only then can you ask your team to follow suit.

  6. Leading people, having them choose to work with you, see your vision, buy into you is hard because it requires real vulnerability.

  7. A conscious business can do more, create more, and impact more than a business that does not have a heart.

  8. The signals we put out into the world are what we will attract.

  9. Be human-centric. Teams, services, and clients cannot be in alignment without the right people in the right places.

  10. Be vulnerable and ask for help when you need it.

  11. Lead with love.

  12. People will always remember how you made them feel.

  13. Trust your gut!

  14. Be prepared to run into the fire. Face adversity head-on; have the difficult conversations.

  15. Often, the stories you tell yourself aren’t true.

  16. Be genuine.

  17. Don’t give advice if it’s not asked of you. Sometimes, all people need is for you to listen.

  18. Don’t make assumptions; ask questions.

  19. Having an infinite mindset means anything is possible.

  20. Moving beyond a business-to-business transaction to a business-to-business elevation ensures our clients experience and feel different when working with us.

  21. “Group Thinking” can be dangerous. Ensuring everyone’s voice is heard and we have a diverse viewpoints is critical to our success.

  22. We focus on doing what is right, rather than what is easy.

  23. Our culture is rooted in the belief that our team and clients are a part of our community.

  24. We are more than the sum of our parts.

  25. If you don’t know something – ask, learn, and grow.

  26. You own your career; people are always there to support, inspire, and challenge you. Ultimately, you are in the driver’s seat.

  27. Fairness is not sameness. Everyone does not get the same things. Everyone gets what they need.

  28. Communicate with clarity; clear is kind, unclear is unkind.

  29. People are safe, ideas are not.

  30. Don’t do something because it’s the way it’s always been done.

  31. The team is more important than the individual.

  32. If you don’t care about the human element, we’re not your company.

  33. Make bold steps towards the ideal vision and future you want that doesn’t exist yet.

  34. We live where we work and have a vested interest to have a positive impact in our communities.

  35. Uncertainty and limitation unleashes creativity.

  36. BRITT changes, grows, and evolves, a lot. We are the new way.
